Sabor Cubano Band

Sabor Cubano Band

These are the artists that make up the Sabor Cubano Band which plays live music at the restaurant by the same name. I already talked about the small, but loud and noticeable Cuban community which is building up in La Antigua Guatemala on May 27th (Now around 100 Cubans). The Cuban-style tunes played by this band can now be heard Wednesday through Sundays at the Sabor Cubano Restaurant from 9:00 p.m. until midnight. I believe this is one of the best deals in town, because, for the price of a delicious Cuban-cuisine dinner and a few mojitos or beers, you can enjoy a first-class concert. If you want to give yourself an idea of the sound of the Sabor Cubano Band, listen to Buena Vista Social Club or Lagrimas Negras by Bebo Valdés & Diego “El Cigala” (links to the iTunes Store). By the way, these two discs might become a noteworthy addition to your music collection.

Sounds fantastic! What a way to while away a summer’s evening!!!

  • You have some great pictures this week, marvelous social comments on life. I’ve enjoyed the visit!

  • Music also feeds the soul. Have the Buena Vista Social Club CD and was able to see them on tour in Minneapolis, MN. Do you know, tho, Rudy, that most of those musicians have since died since they recorded that album and went on tour? Breaks my heart!

  • Gotta agree, of all the Latin styles, Cuban rhythms are the absolute best. At the last count, there were over ten thousand Cubans in Tenerife alone, so I bet we must have some place like this somewhere too. Haven’t found it yet tho’ it’s not where I live in Buenavista! 🙂

  • I want to be here to hear the Sabor Cubano !!!!!!
