Wood and Metal Door in Antigua Guatemala

Wood and metal door

I can’t remember now who wrote to me that they could just go around Antigua taking shots of just doors and windows. I have done quite a lot myself; 32 photos published here and some others published at Doors Around the World site which is maintain by MarieMc. Honest I could do 5 times more, but I don’t want to bore you with so many doors and windows; you might think this is door and window catalog.

I don’t know what to say about the doors. They look old. Not very pleasant to look at. I have seen pretty doors too but I guess it takes all kinds of doors to keep people out or in.

    Today—
Their beaks close, their eyes shut and their heads flop over the edge of the nest.
    American Robin series starts today.

It’s not the beauty so much, although they are beautiful to me, it’s the history they represent. All the people, through hundreds of years, who have come and gone through these portals; the battles they may have withstood and, certainly the ravishes of climate they have survived. You go ahead and make a door and window catalogue Rudy. There is a whole Puertas y ventanas antiguas group at Flickr and there’s a PDF catalog of windows here in Tenerife already, so you’ll be in good company!

    Rudy,

I really like your web page. It keeps my heart close to Antigua. Thank you. Your photographs of doors and entry ways are well done. My opinion is that you are a very good photographer. But I also feel that photographs of doors and windows do not challenge you technically or artistically. I’d like to encourage you to take more landscape, people, and everyday-life photographs.

    Cheers!!!

[...] suggested by Scott, here’s a more challenging photograph, although I did include a door (does that count?), yet [...]

I just got back from a visit to Antigua, and I too was intrigued by the variety in the doors. I did a mini-photo shoot and incorporated it into a slide show that I put together of my time there.
