Hey to all semovientes chapines. Just wanted to ask to any of you if you know how to make PLATANO EN MOLE. It's been approximately 20years since I last had this dish. The only thing I remeber is how delish this dessert tasted, specially when my Aunt made it. Now that I've moved from California to Texas everything here is so different. Please help me I've been living here in USA for 32years and I'm barely learning how to make traditional food from Guatemala. Anyway Jennifer los PLATANOS FRITOS SON DELICIOSOS ESPECIALMENTE EN MOLE........

Interesting that you fry the entire plantain. Here we slice it up and then fry the individual slices.

You should also link to the posts you have made about Desayunos Chapines to show the sliced platanitos... We've seen and tried these "whole" fried plátanos on street vendors and restaurants from other parts of Latin America, but I don't believe that I've seen the sliced platanitos version. It is quite easy to find plátanos here in Toronto, easier than it was in Kitchener-Waterloo where I used to live. Although sometimes they are too green. I try to have them for breakfast once in a while... particularly when I get nostalgic.

I shouldn't say this because I am not sure, but isn't UFCO or at least UFCO's stake in Guatemala now part of "Del Monte" and not of "Chiquita"? I think twice when I pick up a plátano that comes from Colombia with the sticker from Chiquita, but have no problem when it comes from Guatemala or Ecuador, you know, the whole, this American company paid mercenaries to kill people so I can have my breakfast the way the volcanoes taught me. Del Monte, I have always thought in the 90s, was one of the best employers in terms of benefits and extras for their agricultural workers in Guatemala. But you, or LD, might now better about this in the present time.

*salivating* So, ehem, Rudy, you're a behaviorist I take it? ;-) "Post food pictures and they will come." Hahahaha. I LOVE IT!!!
All these pictures are making me want to be in LAG or at least be at our Panaderia that is very far away from us. Actually, we were just at our bakery this weekend, but there were no rellenitos, only chiles rellenos, which were good but not in the dessert category. :-( However, I am more than delighted to see torrejas, bu~nuelos, and platanos fritos here. :-D I can't wait for the rellenitos picture. I would dance, but the only dance I know (now) is the Hokey Pokey. So here goes, "You put your right hand in/You put your right hand out/You put your right hand in/And you shake it all about/You do the Hokey Pokey/And you turn yourself around/That's what it's all about!" and so forth and so on... :-D
