Ahhh.. the beautiful paintings! Does anyone know if (and I highly doubt it) anyone of these artisans sell the paintings online? It’s doubtful that I will be back in Guate for a while but I am dying for a nice big (well done) painting of Antigua.

I am a sucker for a really nice painting of a new city that I am visiting. I find that paintings (of course photography as well) really capture the essence behind a particular place in such a different way. While I buy them of a smaller size, I have paintings from Granada, Madrid, Salamanca (Spain) and Playa del Carmen (Mexico) — I have since framed them all and put them in my apartment. For me, they say so much more than the typical, every-day postcard. You really capture the Antigueno way-of-life as well through your photography, so keep up the great picture-taking!

Oh I wish I had seen paintings being sold on the street. They are stunning. When we were in GC at the Westin, the Westin did have a beautiful painting of a mother and baby – I am so regretful I did not buy it.

I have 2 such paintings (though not so quite as large as hers) hanging in my living room tonight and looking at them makes me feel very homsick for Antigua….

I remember heading to Lago Atitlan on a bus, coming around a tight bend where someone was selling paintings just off the side of the road of the view looking out over Panajachel. We were doing about 80 mph so I couldn’t stop to buy one, but I wish I had.
What a good idea to sell prints of your gorgeous photos! I want to hang them on every wall of my house.
