Pues as you can see if it is not for the bloggers like you and my bro I would have not known anything about this incident. Well, I have a tab of Guatemalan news on my iGoogle page, but the default tab is the one about Canada. Right now we are in the middle of a dumb, quick, copycat election here in the true white north and at the same time the stock market is crashing. Interestingly enough, on the CBC website there is mention of this incident plus one single comment from a reader that I am pasting here without commenting on it, I'll let the CBC reader speak for himself:

Wow

It is a big world, one man takes 40 hostages while in the other part of the world one man kill 10 times as that. Read the News how many die in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Palestine, Bosnia , Chechnya the list goes on...

Imagine they took hostages...(laughs)....then the captor would have to feed them so therefore it is easier to destroy then to build.

Rudy, Thank you for your comments today regarding emerging independent digital media (0scar and Stephanie). Let's applaud independent journalists and concerned individuals who actively post or twitter their observations and investigation. Whether they report breaking news, ongoing stories or navigation of bureaucratic and political slog, their voices rise above supported conventional media blather. Please keep us posted on Oscar, Stephanie and any others who come to your attention.
