A Penny for Your Thoughts

A Penny for Your Thoughts

Wow, my kid does look with the sousaphone; I am glad he’s not a piano or guitar player like everyone else; he’s a real sousaphone player. 😉

I will give a penny for your thoughts!

I want to know what are your thoughts now. How are you taken all the recent events and economic calamities? Who’s responsible? Do you have hopes for the immediate future? Will you be voting in the upcoming election?

Don’t vote! is great video clip I came across just yesterday; I like to share it with you.

Please, let me know your thoughts!

Has the economic troubles effect you and your country men?
as for me it is coming on to cold weather and we have propane heat and it is high so I am planning on ways to make the propane go further and our food bills have gone up so we have to cut corners.
There is one thing to be said for not having much money so I didn’t lose any in stock market.
I am a democrat, just ask your reader, sompopo, so I would prefer Obama for president.
sompopo and I snapped at each other a few times on your site but I have got to know him better now and I hope he knows me better and we talk on the net often. the fact is we agree on something but not on the next president.

I don’t see any way our country can come out of this down turn very soon, but on the brighter side maybe our government will not be making war around the world as quickly.

I wish you and your family well and hope you are doing OK.

I feel scared. I have hope that situation gets better. Though again, those who should be punished for the current state of our economy get nothing but a slap on the wrist (if that) the white collar mobsters, the government, etc. Of course we as a people should take our share of the blame as well for ALLOWING this to happen, for living above our means.

  • MO

Hey, I never lived above my means…never.
Like my good old friend Bob Marley used to say “Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing gonna be all right”

Just cycles…that’s all it is CYCLES. One day we’re up, next day we’re down. Sun comes up, sun goes down, sun comes up, sun goes down again. Why worry about things we have no control over.

  • Well said MO.

Patsy’s right, we don’t agree on everything but at least we can be friends. That is more importaint than anything.

As for the video, Typical liberal Hollywood BS.

  • Rudy, I like your thoughts, or rather the ones you’ve imagined for the sousaphone (I thought it was just a tuba, too) player and the old man. I laughed out loud to “come on, who wants to date a sousaphone player?” That instrument is so necessary, though, in banda and norteño music! I think it’s cool 🙂
As for everything else.. I’m nervous. I’m scared to death something stupid will happen & we will end up with 4 more years of Republican rule. I remember how prosperous we were under Clinton (but I do hate his NAFTA and what it has done to people), and now I don’t know how I’m gonna pay for the heating oil I just had delivered. I had been hoping to cash out my retirement and go live in Guatemala, but with the economy the way it is, I’m afraid to look at my retirement account. I’m angry because no one is going to jail for this mess, yet hundreds are being thrown in jail for working at grueling jobs for little pay just to dream of a better life. I want to fight & change things, but I also just want to go on vacation to a sunny place and forget it all.
Thank you for asking, I hope you’re not sorry you did!
Also – you do such a good job capturing people in their pensive moments, it makes for portraits that have true feeling.

  • Carolyn

Yes, I will vote for Obama. But I am very worried about the future. Here in Minnesota people are losing jobs and facing extremely high heating bills. I do not see Obama as a savior. When I listened to the debate on foreign policy with McCain and Obama, all I could think of was the name of a book written by Chris Hedges, WAR IS THE FORCE THAT GIVES US MEANING. Just think about it – in the 21st century we still kill people who don’t agree with us and refuse to speak about the horrible loss of life in Iraq. Both candidates sound very militaristic and Obama wants more troops in Afghanistan!. But I really don’t want McCain and the world has hopes for Obama.. . . Neither candidate will discuss universal care which doesn’t benefit the insurance companies.
On the economy; this is unbridled greed. The CEOs of these banks are exiting with millions in severance pay. I agree with Janna, NAFTA has left thousands at the border jobless while factories moved to China for cheaper labor.

  • Claudia

I am divided on many issues, it’s like, I don’t agree with EVERYTHING Obama has to say/offer, but I also don’t agree with everything McCain has to say/offer. I guess it’s about picking the lesser of two evils, right? Though I do feel very strongly about lessening our dependence on oil and ending the war that has lead us to nowhere.
