Arches Are Us

Arches Are Us

El Palacio de los Capitanes building has to be one of my favorites edifices with lots of arches; and you know I love Arches. 😉 I also love repetition so it is no wonder that often have tried to capture the arching repetition found in the Captains’ Palace as well as in other buildings with mix results.

Here are some of my attempts, let me know which you like the best:

  1. Visit The Time Tunnel
  2. Captains’ Palace at night in Antigua Guatemala
  3. Architectonic Details: Arches
  4. Leaders of Guatemala’s Independence Movement
  5. Municipal Band Concerts on Fridays

    Happy Friday everyone!

@Rudy: While I think this is a great shot, my personal favorites are #2 and #3 from the list you provided.

My favorite is “Architectonic Details: Arches”. In the others I find the people distracting. Also, I like how although I assume the colonnade is straight, it almost appears curved in the photo.

  • She makes it even more beautiful.

Pos…I’m going to second Stephanie, and say “Architectonic Details: Arches” is my favorite. The “Time Tunnel” was a good entry, but the lines of this building are so lovely, it’s almost a shame to blur them, even for artistic purposes. I find “Captains’ Palace at Night” to be a bit sad. Why ? Because when I see this view, it’s usually my last night in La Antigua, I have just spent the evening having my last Moza, buying last-minute gifts for my son, and wondering if I truly MUST be on the plane out of La Aurora in the morning. What can I say? My heart belongs to the land of eternal Spring, and my stomach is devoted to the tortilla ladies. 🙂 The present photo makes me ‘homesick’.
