From what I understand there are new rules in the construction of gated communities that obligate the developers to pay for all the civil infrastructure whereas in the past the city of Antigua would assume the costs. What I am being told as a result is that there will be fewer developments in the future given the cost to convert a Milpa is not as cost effective as it has been in the past.Personally I see this as a promising development. My personal wish for Antigua is a Green belt and maintenance of the surrounding agricultural land. The municipality has been taking more and more steps as time passes to ensure this.Let's hope that it will not be too little too late.
