Lent Food: Toffee apples

These apples will soon turn into caramelized apples. Toffee apples, as they are known in England, are a good example of the syncretism found in the Guatemalan gastronomy, don’t you think?

A good example of syncretism ? Maybe so. Then again, due to ‘Guateingenuity’, it would only be a matter of time before someone put some ‘overcooked’ dulce de leche on an apple, and pronounced it delicious, ha-ha-ha. I’m sure these are good, but I ate so much caramel as a child, my teeth won’t tolerate toffee apples today…just give me an extra bag of plataninas, and I’ll be happy !
