That’s blackberry-chipotle beef steak for you. I don’t remember if I mentioned it before, but in Guatemala blackberry is the berry more often found after strawberries. In fact, in Guatemala blackberries are used in licuados (smoothies), cheese cakes and any kinds of desserts as well as main dishes as shown above. Perhaps, we use blackberries instead of cranberries because the latter are hard to come by in Guatemala.
Anyhow, I was invited to have lunch by a long-time loyal reader at Sobremesa and I was intrigued by the mixture of chipotle hot peppers and blackberries. I must say, the combination was delicious as well as the conversation and catching up with friend. I really enjoy the fusion of local and foreign ingredients the food found in Antigua Guatemala.
