This past Sunday it seemed as every village and town around Antigua Guatemala was celebrating its patron saint day. Well San Juan del Obispo and San Pedro de las Huertas were, but all other towns were celebrating Corpus Christi and confirmations.
Here we see a few Maya Kaqchikel girls waiting for the confirmation mass just outside the main church at Santa María de Jesús. It was very interesting to see the contrast between colourful textiles and clothing against a single white vail on top of their head. The smiles and laughs were the norm as well.
When was the last time you visited Santa María de Jesús?
