Things Not to Eat in Guatemala, A Warning For The Foodies

Some of the things you should avoid when you come to Guatemala are ice cream and small tropical fruits, especially so if you have to come back to your own country. Honest, if you make the mistake of tasting ice cream, made with whole milk and real sugar, the “healthy” ice cream sold elsewhere might not be good enough anymore. The same goes for the small, even tiny sometimes, fruits like bananas, pineapples, strawberries, papayas, et cetera, once tried, the saturated rich flavours of these Guatemalan fruits might ruin you for the fruits available at your local supermarket. Okay, don’t say we don’t give you plenty of warnings about the things to avoid in Guatemala. 😉

This photo looks VERY familiar, Rudy! Readers should know how, shortly after snapping this delicious looking confection, you set to and ate it with gusto! Another reminder of a very enjoyable brunch at Sabe Rico! 🙂

Ja-ja-ja, I knew where you were going with this, even before I got past the title. Well said, Rudy. Makes me think of every time I visit a restaurant and order pollo ahumado con salsa pibil, in a little restaurant out by Lago Atitlan…I always feel like it’s the first time I’ve eaten real chicken in my life. Save me an ice cream…actually, save two. Someone is coming with me on my next visit. 😉

    • Well said Eric, you have to experience it to know it for sure.

I got scared when you said don’t eat the ice cream and fruit because I make sure to eat those every time I visit. Thought I was going to keel over or something. Lol. Can’t wait to see the look on my hubbies face when he first tries the ice cream there next time I visit
