Shoe-shine Kids vs The Visitors

Rudy Giron: Instagrams &emdash; Shoe-shine Kids: La Chamusca

Here’s your Guatemalan-Spanish word of the day: Chamusca, an informal football match. All you need is a few friends or visitors, a dirt field or park and a fútbol ball to build life-long relationships.

In this picture, you can see how the shoe-shine kids take a break from work, leave their wooden shoe-shine boxes on a bench and enjoy of a good chamusca against some of other kids visiting Antigua Guatemala. If you want to learn more about these kids, visit the Shoe Shine Kids page on Facebook.

Now that is one fantastic photograph! The children and the ball in blurred action; the expression on the boy’s face…and all framed by the foreground dead-centre image of the old shoe-shine box sitting on the well worn park bench. Says so much about La Antigua; says so much about masterful photography!

    • Thanks Canche, although I must say, I really enjoy your commentary and captions much more than the actual picture. 😉
