Lunch Time on the Streets of Antigua Guatemala

Rudy Giron: Antigua Guatemala &emdash; Lunch Time on the Streets of Antigua Guatemala

At lunch time one can find stands of food vendors pop up at street corners or around parks in Antigua Guatemala. These street food vendors usually cater to other vendors working on the streets. The daily menu can go from Q10/$1.25 to Q25/$3 depending in what one orders. Most lunches sell for around Q15/$2 and include a main dish, rice or beans, salad, two or three tortillas and a drink. The food served is mostly typical and traditional Guatemalan cuisine, such as pollo, hilachas, pepián, frijoles colorados, carne guisada, et cetera, but sometimes you get chow mein, or spaghetti; the Guatemalan style, of course. ¡Buen Provecho!
