From feet to pedals, from scooters to mini vans, we have shown the most common means of the transportations found in La Antigua Guatemala. Horses and carriages are another way to move around the city. Carriages are mostly used by tourist who hire a ride around town. Many people think these horse drawn coaches should be banned, while other believe that it is complementary means of transportation for the cobble-stoned streets of Antigua Guatemala.

What are your thoughts regarding those horse-powered wagons?

    …. if you see the physical state those horses are in and you hear that the drivers only give them water once or maybe twice a days if they’re lucky ( which was especially bad when I was there in early November and there was a record heat of 28] for this time of year) you can’t but feel sorry for those poor mistreated animals. They should definately abandon those carriages for the sake of those poor horses if you ask me… or they should put more restirctions on the owners to make sure the animals are in better condition and get treated better…
