Calle del Arco Should Be A Pedestrian Street Always

Rudy Giron: Antigua Guatemala &emdash; Colorful Post Card from Antigua Guatemala

It only takes a weekend stroll on Calle del Arco to realise this short 3-block street should be a pedestrian walkway every single day and not just the weekends. Yet, this self-evident truth has eluded administration after administration. Or perhaps, there are hidden facts that have prevented this simple implementation from happening. What do you guys think?

I so agree with you… it’s so nice to walk on Calle del Arco without having to worry about
cars and during the week when you want to take photos in the middle of the
street which has the best view, you always have to be careful not to get
run over. Why not start a petition or something to make this street pedestrian
for good ? How lovely it would be to put up more benches and chairs and
restaurants could offer lovely outside seating all the time… It would be the same great atmosphere as in
the Parque. Except for deliveries early in the morning or access to the hotels,
there really is no need for cars on this road anyway. And anyone who’s tried
taking photos during the week and trying to make it look nice with the stupid
cars parked on the road killing a beautiful photo will agree…

    • Yes, Jeannine, open it for deliveries, but that is it.
