Street Photography in Antigua Guatemala — This is the end!

Rudy Giron: Antigua Guatemala &emdash; Street Photography — Follow the light

This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I’ll never look into your eyes, again…

There are now 4,032 posts in the archives of AntiguaDailyPhoto, organized neatly in reverse chronological order, by category order and by hash tags. This is the largest multimedia resource in English about the Guatemalidad or the Guatemalan identity, traditions and culture. I have tried to cover just about everything I have come across in these eleven years.

I hope you have enjoyed it as much I have making it. Please, DO SHARE your thoughts about AntiguaDailyPhoto or my work. For instance, let me know when did you encounter it for the first time; what’s been your favourite post or posts. It’s your time to share with me.

This is the end, my only friend, the end
It hurts to set you free
But you’ll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die
This is the end…

I first encountered Antigua Daily Photo 11 years ago, shortly after having moved back to Maryland from five months of fostering my son in Antigua. It gave me such comfort to see the little town that has such a strong hold on my heart. Every time I see a picture that shows the Avenida I lived on or the streets where I walked daily, it still makes me want to move back. I am so thankful for not only the gorgeous pictures, but the writing that has allowed me to better understand the people and the culture and to share it with not only my Guatemalan born children, but also hundreds of students I have taught. To record and post daily must be so difficult. But the gift you have shared is so inspiring. I’ve been hoping one day to take a photo class with you. Thank you for sharing your gifts!

    • Wow, 11 years, you’re one of most loyal readers. Thanks so much for your feedback and support.

Congratulations on an amazing project! During my time living in Antigua and afterwards I have enjoyed your refreshing take on life there. You’ve often touched on topics I myself have thought about (I remember the post about missionaries particularly) and have captured countless beautiful moments. Thanks for your wonderful work and good luck with whatever comes next!

I have visited Antigua Daily Photo every day fir ten years. My favorite photos are those featuring the smiling, hard working, friendly, special people of Guatemala. Thank you for all you do.
