Christmas season festivities around Antigua Guatemala

Rudy Giron: Antigua Guatemala &emdash; Christmas season village festivities in Antigua Guatemala

As I have mentioned many times before, the dry season is the best time to visit Guatemala. During the dry season we have so many festivities and events starting with Día de Muertos and ending with Semana Santa, Easter pues. Christmas season being right in the middle of the dry season provides so many events that is keep track of all the festivities, especially if you include all the villages of Antigua Guatemala. Here, for instance, was a combination of processions, parades, posadas enactments, devil dances, moros y cristiano dances, town fair, all in one, in the aldea San Pedro Las Huertas, 2 miles south of downtown Antigua Guatemala. I also saw Christmas festivities in Santa Ana and Ciudad Vieja.

For those who don’t know what Posadas are, I will try to catch one or two this week. Stay tuned!
