Sunday Morning at San Gaspar Vivar by Rudy Girón

For this Sunday, we continue in a tranquil and relaxing mood with tone set by the theme day Tranquility. Once again, here’s another fountain on the main plaza of San Gaspar Vivar, a tiny village of Antigua Guatemala sandwiched between San Pedro Las Huertas, San Juan del Obispo and Santa Catarina Bobadilla.

I hope your weekend has been peaceful and serene thus far. If not, here’s video of a live performance of Ranferi Aguilar singing El hacedor de lluvia, The Rain Maker, to help you relax. Enjoy!

San Juan del Obispo Main Square Fountain by Rudy Giron

This fountain in San Juan del Obispo was my second choice to show tranquility for the theme day of the Photo Daily community. Even the entire community of San Juan del Obispo is a tranquil sleepy little town. If you have not visited yet, you must put it on your to do list. If you come on the weekend you can visit the museum adjacent to San Juan del Obispo church and have lunch at La Cocina del Obispo, a high-end Guatemala cuisine restaurant located in this town which is only open on the weekends. The photo for the Tres Carnes Subanik Bowl was taken at the Cocina del Obispo.

Tranquility at Parque Central of Antigua Guatemala by Rudy Girón

It is neither wealth nor splendor; but tranquility and occupation which give you happiness. —Thomas Jefferson

As most firsts of the month AntiguaDailyPhoto is participating on the theme day organized by the DailyPhoto community on the first of june. Tranquility is the theme selected for June 2012. Take a quick and quiet tour around the world to look at the tranquil scenes being shared by other DailyPhoto cities.

As opposed to other large metropolitan cities like London, Paris or Sydney, Antigua Guatemala could be considered an enchanting and tranquil little town with its hundreds of fountains everywhere, it only takes a few steps to find a quiet and secluded spot to listen to the relaxing murmurs of a fountain, fuente as we say in Spanish. Even at the main fountain, Fuente de las Sirenas, at the main square, Plaza Mayor, one can find tranquility through the day.
