Here’s another instalment from the Brooks Buderus archive. In this case, even the caption was written by mister Buderus in the 80’s:
The La Merced Church was completed in 1767 and withstood the 1773 earthquake with little damage. It is used today even though some work is still being done after the 1976 quake. The façade is considered the best example of decorative plaster work in Antigua Guatemala. La Merced was an early religious order in Guatemala.
