Lion Bucaro Fountain from Antigua Guatemala

If you have been following the daily updates of AntiguaDailyPhoto, you guys know I have covered dozen of times the mermaids that are all over town. In fact, I have created a photo walk entitled: Hunting Mermaids in Antigua Guatemala. In case you don’t know, there are over a hundred mermaids or sirenas in La Antigua Guatemala.

However, I have rarely mention the lions, perhaps only a couple of times. It is time to fix that. There are perhaps just as many lions as there are mermaids around Antigua Guatemala and I should design a photo walk to discover and learn more about them.

Now, can anyone tell me why do we have so many lions in La Antigua Guatemala?
