Maya Weavers at Work, Antigua Guatemala
Here’s your Spanish word of the day: Tejedora or weaver
It is easy to be enchanted by the rhythm of the weaving hands of the Maya of Guatemala. With each passing stroke of the loom a new line is made in the art form known as Maya embroidery. Of course, some of the best weavers of Guatemala can be found in La Antigua Guatemala or near-by, especially so in San Antonio Aguas Calientes. Maya textiles are all the rage with young Guatemalan designers who are using them in every conceivable design, from boots, to wallets, to purses, to whatever. The sky is the limit.
Perhaps you need a piece of Maya textiles in your life, right?
