Celebrations of Virgen de la Concepción in Ciudad Vieja

Here I captured the look of the façade of the temple of Ciudad Vieja, about 4 kms from La Antigua Guatemala during the night celebrations and mass service of Virgen de la Concepción.

Ciudad Vieja, the former capital before La Antigua Guatemala, celebrates its patron saint day with observance of Virgen de la Concepción festivities, which in turn, kick off the Christmas celebrations.

Of course, there are many business would like to kick off the Christmas shopping spree in August and they do to the detriment of Guatemalans.

Anyhow, don’t let business dictate otherwise, the Christmas season begins on December 8 with the festivities of Virgen de la Concepción.
