Architect Susana Asensio Becomes First Woman Mayor Ever of Antigua Guatemala

Guatemala moves forward and Antigua Guatemala will be the place that illuminates that hope, because we all are going to work together! — Susana Asensio, Mayor of Antigua Guatemala.

For the first time ever in the 491-year history of Antigua Guatemala there is a woman Mayor leading the municipality for the next four years.

The official ceremony of transfer of powers was held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Ayuntamiento Palace. Below I share some photographs and videos clips to give you a taste of this civic party and celebration.
