Today’s panoramic view of volcanoes surrounding Antigua Guatemala
Fortunately hurricane Otto didn’t reach Guatemala and except for some cloudy skies we had to endure for yesterday, we are back to our normal gorgeous blue skies, typical of the dry season. However, we did felt a very strong earthquake, 7.2, around lunch hour yesterday, which hit the gulf of Fonseca in El Salvador. This earthquake was so strong that it was felt through out Central America. And to think that in colonial times, the capital of Central America was moved 25 miles, from the current location of Antigua Guatemala to Guatemala City to be safe from earthquakes. Oh boy, how little was then known about the earth tremors.
