Holy Week Vistas — Cucurucho kids having an ice cream break
One of the most important lessons we can take from experiencing the Holy Week in Guatemala is the many different ways of being human. And let’s be clear, this is not better or worse, just different, positively different, I may add!
For instance, all along the processional routes one receives so many good vibes from the many participants, from the people putting the long hours making the carpets, to the cucuruchos, dolorosas, marching musicians and even the spectators. It’s like expanding the good vibes aura found at Parque Central to the entire city. Slices of life as this one are found in every block. The Holy Week activities are so much more than a religious manifestation, at least in Antigua Guatemala. Of course, you have to be willing to tolerate the huge crowds, there’s no other way during Lent and Holy Week or Easter Week.
Join me for another very special Holy Week photo walk the afternoons of Thursday and Friday if you want to have a better understanding of the processional activities and walk away with much better photographs. You can make your reservation at www.AntiguaPhotoWalks.com or contact me.
