Join us for a fun and amazing “Día de Muertos” in Guatemala

Rudy Giron: Antigua Guatemala &emdash; Two Colorful Generations of Maya Women at Day of the Dead in Santiago Sacatepequez Generations of Maya Women at Day of the Dead in Santiago Sacatepequez

Even though Day of the Dead is actually observed on November 2nd, and All Saints Day is celebrated on November 1st, we celebrate Día de Muertos on both dates. In Guatemala we celebrate Día de los Difuntos, defunct, Día de Muertos as it is known in other parts of the world or Day of the Dead in English.

There’s so much more color in the Mayan graveyards and dementareis than in the necropolis of Antigua Guatemala. Two distinct locations to observe and capture two different ways of celebrating All Saints Day and Day of the Dead, for sure.

This November 1st, from 8am to 4pm, we’ll venture into the Mayan graveyard of Santiago Sacatepequez to capture the marvelous Giant Kites of Day of the Dead and the festivities of All Saints Day in the Necropolis of La Antigua Guatemala. There will be food tasting of fiambre, a Guatemalan delicacy prepared especially for the occasion.
