Colonial Artworks: Statue of Saint Michael the Archangel
One of the aspects I enjoy the most about exploring houses and buildings in and around Antigua Guatemala is the colonial art that one can encountered at the most unexpected places. Here’s a colonial statue of San Miguel Arcángel, as we know him in Castilian Spanish, that I came across at the lobby of condominium building in the south part of town.
By the way, the festivities for San Miguel are observed on September 29 in villages named after the Michael Archangel. So, around Antigua Guatemala, the villages of San Miguel Escobar and San Miguel Dueñas are having their town fairs this weekend in observance of their Corpus Christi. Stay tuned, I might hop over to one of the San Miguels to make a few photographs.
