This Devil Will Burn in Antigua Guatemala on December 7

The Christmas season in Antigua Guatemala begins with a cleansing pyromaniac ritual by burning the devil which represent all the negative feelings and vibes. As it happens every year, the creators of the Quema del Diablo, Burning of the Devil, in Barrio La Conception, take advantage of the burning by also making a political statement about a character who has caused trouble some how. Normally the Antigua Guatemala’s Mayor gets this attention, but this year, the effigy of someone else gets to burn with the devil. I am including a second image so you can see who this political character is.
