We continue our black and white series of the churches in and around Antigua Guatemala. In this occasion, I stopped by El Calvario church at the south end of Antigua Guatemala.

El Calvario or Calvary (Golgotha) is the name of the mount on the outskirts of Jerusalem where it’s believed that Jesus Christ was crucified. This church with its three arches provides a symbolic representation of the crucifixion; with each arch representing each cross.

If you want to see the rich yellow colour of the wall with the white trim against a dark blue sky follow the white rabbit to Entrance to Iglesia El Calvario.

P.S. Make sure you click on the images to view the large version where the details are so much better.
