Black Bean Soup Now Available at Chic Places
Black beans are such a staple of the Guatemalan cuisine that a cook or chef only needs to add them to a dish and call it Guatemalan, Chapín, Nacional or Típico. Beans, but especially black beans, are ingrained in the Guatemalan DNA. Yet, black beans are also considered the food of the less privilege even though I am sure all Guatemalans eat them. Anyway, I was lightly surprise to find it as one of the special at one of the chic cafes. I had the black bean soup with croutons and cheese squares and it was delicious. Kudos to Café Barista for serving up a delightful and tasty twist to the Guatemalan classical frijoles colados soup.
