The question should be, when was the last time you visited San Juan del Obispo? If the answer is not recently or ever, shame on you. The village of San Juan del Obispo belongs to the Antigua Guatemala municipality and besides this fountain, a park, the church and palace of the bishop, there is plenty to see and do around town, especially during the weekends when you can have an utz breakfast or lunch at Cocina del Obispo. There are also several chocolate vendors in town; this is where the famous Chocolate de San Juan comes from. On the weekends you can find the liquor of nispero too near the public washbasins at the entrance. There are, of course, many handicrafts produced in San Juan del Obispo and this is your chance to see them being made or to talk to the artisans directly. So what are you waiting for, head over as soon as you get a chance.
