Monastery of Hermanas Clarisas in San Pedro Las Huertas, Antigua Guatemala
Up on the hills of San Pedro Las Huertas, it is rising the monastery of Hermanas Clarisas among fields of maize and other milpa fields. This monastery is among the last edifices on the path the climbs the skirts of Volcán de Agua through the cultivation fields peppered with avocado and nispero trees. About 500 meters up the hill one begins to find patches of forested areas. I wonder why they built this monastery this far away up the hills; does anyone know?
