Corn and Bean Harvest Time is Coming

Within two weeks the harvest time will commence around Antigua Guatemala for corn. Normally, maize is harvested from the end of October through December depending on the milpa fields. Beans are harvested from November through December in most places in Guatemala.

Who knows how much will be harvested this year since we experienced a severe drought of almost two months just when plants and fields need the rain the most. I will keep you posted.

Now can you believe the maize fields can be found within 3kms/2 miles from Antigua Guatemala. In fact, I am sure that you can find milpa fields even closer perhaps in San Felipe or around the Barrio de La Candelaria. Where have you seen milpas around Antigua Guatemala?
