New Look of the Façade of the Cathedral of Antigua Guatemala
As promised earlier this week, here’s the new look of the façade of the Saint Joseph parish in Antigua Guatemala [Parroquía de San José], commonly and erroneously known as Catedral de Antigua Guatemala. By the way, in case you don’t know it, in the Roman Catholic religion, a cathedral is the seat of a bishop, thus serving as the central church of a diocese, conference, or episcopate. In the case of Antigua Guatemala, the Parroquía de San José also known informally as catedral, belongs to the Arquidiócesis de Santiago de Guatemala [Archdiocese of Guatemala]. Lots of us still call it cathedral because it was a cathedral at one point in its history.
Would you like to know in what year this building became a cathedral?
