Guatemalan Food — Caldo de Mariscos
Here’s your illustrated Spanish word of the day: Mariscos for seafood.
Can someone explain to me how could I have missed caldo de mariscos or seafood soup in over ten years of publishing everyday. There is simply no excuse, I mean, there are many restaurants and diners that sell the Guatemalan caldo de mariscos if not everyday, at least on Mondays. That’s right, as other Guatemalan foods that have specific days of the week when they are mostly available, such as paches on Thursdays, tamales on Saturdays, chiles rellenos on Sundays, etc., caldo de mariscos is often found on Mondays. If you’re interested, I can share with you why caldo de mariscos day is Monday, but you have to ask.
So, where can you find caldo de mariscos in Antigua Guatemala? This presentation of the Guatemalan seafood soup is from the diner Lo-Mix, located on 7a calle poniente N. 25B and sells in two sizes small for Q50 and large for Q90. Of the top of my head, other restaurants with caldo de mariscos include Los 7 Caldos, El Pelicano Dorado, Los Tres Tiempos.
What other restaurants or diners do you know that offer caldo de mariscos in and around Antigua Guatemala?
