Happy Central America’s Independence Day
First of all, I wish a very happy Central American Independence Day to all the loyal readers out there!
Above we can appreciate the coat of arms on the Nicaraguan flag. This is the flag the most resembles the flag of La Federación del Centro, United States of Central America, a union formed on July 1st, 1823, the true and authentic Independence Day, but hardly ever celebrated [source: Memorias para la historia de la Revolución Centroamericana. Memorias de Jalapa de Manuel Montúfar y Coronado].
As I have said before, each year, the parades of Día de la Independencia are becoming more elaborate and diverse. Below you can enjoy a slideshow of the typical vistas of Guatemala’s Independence Day as it is celebrated in La Antigua Guatemala. Enjoy!
