The Pandemic Has Spawn Moto Taxis Everywhere in Guatemala
Believe it or not, there hasn’t been public transportation in the entire country of Guatemala since March 16 when the national government implemented restrictive regulation to contain the spread of the Sars-Cov-2 and the pandemic Covid-19. That’s over 90 without public transportation.
Of course, you can still hire taxis, if you have the economic means, or Uber rides. Those who own a vehicle have not been affected as much, except for the curfews, until this week as you can only circulate on specific day depending if you have an even or odd numbered license plate.
Motorcycles are exempted for the even/odd plate number regulation. Thus now, even more so than before, many owners of motorcycles are using them as private moto taxis: no app required.
