Theme Day: Electricity

Theme Day: Electricity by Rudy A. Girón

Benjamin Franklin may have discovered electricity, but it was the man who invented the meter who made the money. —Earl Wilson

I agree completely with my son James when he says ‘Internet is like electricity. The latter lights up everything, while the former lights up knowledge.’ —Kerry Packer

Once again Antigua Daily Photo is participating on the theme day organized by the DailyPhoto community on the first of each month. Electricity is the theme chosen for March 2012. Take a quick tour around the world to see what photos other DailyPhoto cities around the world are posting, pun intended.

Taking the second quote above as a departing point, these are some of the things that are possible through electricity and found in the post above: electricity, fiber optic wires, phone lines, cellular tower disguised as fake trash cans and a security camera.

I just wish the city of Antigua Guatemala would opt for underground wiring for the entire town because it is less visual pollution, don’t you agree?

To put the wires underground would be beautiful.  But I am afraid that this would raise the cost of living in La Antigua to unprecedented levels, no ?  Or is this a case of “We HAD the money to do this years ago, but………..”?  Nice foto, Rudy, and buena suerte with the underground wires !

    • Eric, have you noticed that one entire quadrant of Antigua Guatemala has its cables underground?

Pues, this is proof of why non-residents cannot comment on political matters in the land of eternal spring. You know what trumps political entanglements, pessimism, and “it can’t be done”?  Guate-ingenuity, that’s what. Felicitaciones a La Antigua, and may you continue with the other quadrants !

        • Actually we discuss why only one quadrant of Antigua Guatemala received underground wiring. A quick search in the archives can throw the reasons why. Would you like to guess the reasons?

I will search first, as soon as I can get this noble piece of equipment that Lenovo calls a ‘computer’ to stop freezing-up…then, I’ll get back to you, ja-ja!  Ten paciencia…
