To understand this prosecution of public wall art in Guatemala, there’s no better option than to watch the Guatemalan film “El regreso de Lencho” or “The Return of Lencho” by filmmaker Mario Rosales. Soon this film will be available on Netflix and iTunes, stay tuned! In the mean time, watch the trailer and the interview of Mario Rosales below.

Happy to consider the art; though my own impression is that very little of it warrants that label. I side with the prosecutors when an individual believes they can unilaterally decide to take the wall of my house or a public building and selfishly and disrespectfully impose their form of “expression” upon the rest of us. Imagine the aesthetic damage that could be caused to the architectural beauty of Antigua’s buildings!
