Guateflora: Duranta Lila

A simple shot to commemorate the sunshine, the purple, the ever-present spring and to revive the Guateflora series. This photo was taken at my favorite green house: Vivero La Escalonia.

P.S. I forgot to mention that we went over 700 entries six days ago; Today’s photo is the 706 consecutive page posted at La Antigua Guatemala Daily Photo. No wonder I’m so tired. 🙁

I do believe that with Spring there is a renewal, a new opportunity to begin anew. Here we have Spring Cleaning, vibrant colors reappear, and an awakening begins.

Even the deserts in California are in bloom (See http://travel.latimes.com/articles/la-trw-moreflowers21mar21 ) Granted, we really do not experience Winter in Southern California, but this year we did get our share of rain and that makes for a beautiful Spring. Like nature wakes up from the slumber of Winter, I find people do the same. I have not gone to the Vivero La Escalonia, perhaps next time we are in LAG. My parents like plants and flowers and I can think of one place located in Balboa Park, San Diego, California where you can take picture after picture of different plants and flowers. I have been reading about Spring and how it’s been celebrated throughout time and space. Manolo’s blog made me think of a Robert Frost poem aptly titled Spring.

A big hug for you, congratulations. This is an amazing job, I feel proud for it. Therefore I always recommend your site to all my contacts, friends and family in and outside Guatemala. Both, my husband and I, enjoy and learn how to explain in English our very particular culture, traditions, and food.
