Too Much Gallo Beer Propaganda

Rudy Giron: AntiguaDailyPhoto.com &emdash; Abarroteria New Star

This is the typical stamp of a convenience store in rural Guatemala. By the way, this photo was taken in San Miguel Escobar, a bordering village next to the municipal limits of Antigua Guatemala.

In my opinion, this is way too much propaganda to entice you to drink Gallo beer, Guatemala’s most popular beer in the market. I don’t like Gallo beer and consider it to be as bad as Budweiser in the U.S., Superior or Sol in Mexico, or Pilsener in El Salvador. However, I would feed the same way even it if was Moza, my favorite Guatemalan beer.

What’s your opinion about this commercial propaganda?

  1. Its the same here in the states. They will say or do anything to get you to buy from them. Advertising is out of control. 🙂

  2. Pues, you know, Rudy, that Moza is my favorite, as well. However, since I can only get Gallo (marketed as ‘Famosa’) up here in the corner pocket, I tend to drink it when I make something for dinner using una receta chapin. It makes me think of my adopted homeland, ja-ja-ja. Maybe this is a bit too much propaganda, even though i own a few Gallo camisetas, myself. But only because I’ve never seen “Moza” t-shirts. Would LOVE to have a few of those, if they exist…
