Here’s another take on the cathedral taken from the municipal building. If you recall, I am taking a certificate course on the history of La Antigua Guatemala and there are many things I have learned so far. For instance, this church which I have always called Catedral is not a cathedral anymore. Once the capital city of the kingdom of Guatemala was moved from Santiago de los Caballeros to La Nueva Guatemala de la Asunción [Guatemala City] in 1773, the title of cathedral was taken as well to the new church building in Guatemala City since there was no more Archbishop in Antigua Guatemala. Slowly I will be sharing with you guys the correct information now at my disposal. Stay tuned!
