Garnachas quetzaltecas at the town fair of Ciudad Vieja

Garnachas quetzaltecas are quite the food attraction at the town fair of Ciudad Vieja. Interesting enough, hardly ever you find at the fairs in and around Antigua Guatemala. On the other hand, I could not find buñuelos, molletes or torrejas in the entire fair campground. I didn’t see mole either.

Garnachas are a typical street food from Quetzaltenango or Xelajú as we call it locally. An order of three garnachas quetzaltecas will set you back Q10 and Q15 for an order of five. Needless to say, I will share more unique foods found at the town fair of Ciudad Vieja. ¡Buen provecho!
