Portraits of Strangers — Vendedora de semillas
Once again we jump-start the new year with some portraits of people from Antigua Guatemala. In this case, it is a portrait of the old grandma selling Guatemalan sweeten nuts such as pepitoria [roasted pumpkin seeds], ajonjolí [sesame seeds], manías [peanuts], et cetera mixed with the sweet molasses from the cooked sugar cane juice. If you want to say hello or even buy some Guatemalan nuts from her, visit the atrium of Iglesia de San Francisco, she will be sitting down underneath the trees. The portion of Guatemalan nuts inside a cellophane bag goes for Q5/$0.60. Got nuts!
