1880s Antique Portrait of a Mother and Daughter

Here’s another installment in the Antique Photographs category with this madre e hija portrait. As I mentioned before and you can see for yourself by browsing the other antique photographs, there was an aesthetic or look that basically was forced upon by the limitations of the photography at the time which required long exposure; that’s why you see chairs, tables, pillars, etc. something to lean against. Also, there were almost no smiles in most of this photographs as it was difficult to keep up the smiling face for the duration of the exposure.

This photograph was taken by Emilio Herbruger in the 1880s.
