Maya Portraits — Guatemalan Grandmother
Today I share with you a portrait of a Maya grandmother posing for her “Foto de muerto”. Ask me about it in the comments and I will tell you what it means.
After years of leading photo walks, I have gain the trust of some of the Maya people in Antigua Guatemala and surrounding villages through transparency, honesty and giving prints away through my Free Portrait Prints Project. Wouldn’t you like to be known as the photographer who «gives» away photos as opposed to the photographer who «takes» photos.
As Louis Mendes, , one the most iconic photographers in NYC, declared in a short documentary about him: giving portrait prints makes everyone happy.
