Street Portrait of World-famous Ruth

My good friend Ruth needs no introduction; she’s probably the most famous Maya woman in Antigua Guatemala. Ruth is a polyglot. Ruth is an entrepreneur always looking for new enterprises.

The pandemic is making it hard to sell her beautiful wares, no problem, she got online and started doing FB live sessions to showcase her textiles and merchandise to sell to people all over the world.

Ruth is probably the most often-photographed Maya person in Antigua Guatemala. Everyone has a pictures of Ruth. I know I do. In fact, she has been highlighted several times through the years. I made today’s portrait a few weeks right before the pandemic and I have made a few more portraits of her since them. She always has a beautiful smile to offer me and my companions whenever we cross paths.
