n Guatemala the New Year’s Eve dinner can vary a lot, from the typical tamales, to baked turkey, baked hen, pepián or one of the favorites of the night: lomo relleno, stuffed top loin. The stuffing can include black chorizo, red chorizo, white longaniza, ham, ground meat, olives, hard-boiled eggs, to named the most popular stuffings.

Yesterday I noticed how the municipal transit police closed completely the one block where the Arco de Santa Catalina is located. Honestly, they should have turned the entire strip of 5a avenida, from Parque Central to Iglesia de La Merced, into a pedestrian pathway, don’t your agree?
