In Guatemala, nothing can be plain and simple, not the public transit system buses nor the school buses. Here’s a very good example of how a plan vanilla yellow school bus is transformed when it’s given its second life as a school bus in Guatemala.

I love those ultra-modern rear-view mirrors, which could be the pride of the most modern of European Pullman coaches, bolted onto a bus that has not changed in decades. I used to go to school on one of those same yellow buses when I lived in Bolivia in the early 60’s!….yes the chicken bus by far pre-dates the passing of Che Guevara in that same country!
